The Uno Chair
Introducing the Uno chair! This reading chair is inspired by my dog, Uno, a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Which is shown through the squat frame, making the chair a low-rider, much like a corgi.

The Uno dog herself, serving as the inspiration for the chair, and modeling for a photo.

This project uses cotton cord for the macrame sling, red oak and ash for the wooden frame, and a cotton blend fabric for the cushion. The tri-color wood speaks to the coloration of my corgi, and highlights the end points to the wood.

Over time, the cotton cord will begin to fray at the ties, adding to the macrame effect. If something is spilled on the pillow, the case can be unsnapped and removed to be thrown in for a wash. After the case is washed and dried, it can be snapped back on top of the pillow through the hand sewn holes on the internal cushion.

The Uno chair is finished up to 320 grit sand paper, leaving a smooth finish that highlights the ties and joinery. Then a layer of antique oil and dark wax was applied to show off the natural grain in the wood.
