Falling and staying asleep is often disrupted by environmental noise, leading to restless nights and poor sleep quality. Many products fail to create a truly immersive and soothing experience, losing out on the process of creating a routine away from complicated interfaces, screens, and disruptive adjustments. There is a need for a thoughtfully designed sleep system that prioritizes natural sound quality, effortless interaction, and simple use sequences.
Initial sketching and ideation showed how the limits of a white noise machine could be pushed beyond what is expected, but in order to create a cohesive design family, the designs needed to be brought back into a more simplified, recognizable shape.
A secondary round of sketching brought the family aspect closer to create a product line that serves as part of a nighttime routine
The final decision of what would be in the family included a bedside wall lamp, alarm clock, and white noise machine. The name Eglo comes from the shape of the white noise machine resembling an egg as well as an igloo. Combining the words lead to Eglo!
Each product is operated by a simple motion. The lamp is turned on by a pull cord, the alarm is set by selecting the time on the bottom of the clock, and the white noise machine is powered on by a twisting motion
Color ways for the Eglo family, starting from left to right, are Deep Ocean, Bubblegum, Plum Pop, and Sunny-D.
